Don’t think we forgot about you fellas, this blog post is dedicated to you! Today, we are going to talk all things men’s bands. What is comfort fit? What is non-comfort fit? We’ll answer your pesky questions and more, getting you closer to your ideal ring!
What is comfort fit?
You’ve heard the phrase "style over comfort" but guess what? You can get both with a comfort fit ring! The interior of this ring is more of a "domed" shape compared to the traditional fit.
What does "domed" mean you may ask? It is the diameter at the middle of the ring (between the two edges) that is smaller than the diameter at the edges of the ring. Because of the shape, this means there won't be as much pressure applied to your finger, especially on warmer days. Who wants an uncomfortable band that digs into your other fingers? Yikes!
Additionally, being domed in shape means more material is required to build the ring. That being said, solid comfort fit bands normally cost more than the traditional, also known as standard fit, wedding bands. Traditional fit wedding rings are a good option for folks who enjoy a lower profile ring or are interested in a more affordable luxury option.
What is non-comfort fit?
Non-comfort fit? Why should I choose something that sounds uncomfortable? While the name may not sound pleasing, let’s clear some things up! A non-comfort fit, or standard fit, ring is flat along the interior where the ring touches the finger. It is the same diameter from edge to edge.
This ring fit is most commonly used for ring designs. The non-comfort rings can potentially feel scratchy on the finger, depending on how thin the edges are. Unless the standard fit ring is paper thin, the scratchy feeling isn't uber noticeable!
Metal Choices
Metal plays an important role. After all, it's what you, and everyone else, will see! You would want to select something that is conductive to your lifestyle right?! Popular choices for precious alloys include gold and platinum. for our precious alloys selection, we offer the options 14kt and 18kt white, yellow, and rose gold and platinum. Precious alloys not your style? No worries, there are alternative metal options!

Width
Now let’s talk width! The general range for men's band width is between 3-8mm, with the most popular range being 5-6mm. For the gents who enjoy details and design, a wider width would suit your style! For the folks who prefer form over function, a thinner width would be a better fit.
A good general rule of thumb is the thinner the band width, the more comfortable the fit. Wider bands tend to take up more space on the finger, so bending the finger is a little harder.
Price Comparison
You may be wondering, "am I going to have to shell out lots of cash for my ring?!". Well...it depends. The price for men’s bands vary based on the metal. popular gold band styles can range anywhere from $150-$1,000. The price variation is dependent on material weight and intricacy of the design.
As for alternative metals, the typical range is from $100-$700, with the majority being around the $100-$350. The alternative alloys' price is mostly contributed by labor. People tend to choose alternative metal options because of price and durability. Generally speaking, alternative alloys are a little more durable than precious alloy choices. In the end, purchasing a ring is an investment and you want to pick the one you love!
Which is Right for Me?
It’s all about preference! If comfort is an important factor, the thinner the better. This allows for a more relaxed fit and nothing will feel forced on your finger. If you are design focused, a wider width allows more freedom when it comes to adding details. Thinner bands, offer limited space, meaning less details. For the comfort fit versus non-comfort fit, we suggest selecting an option that you would be happy with in the long-term. If comfort is important, there is no harm in spending a little more for the comfort-fit. If you prefer a lower profile option, we would suggest the non-comfort fit as it requires less material. Hence, the profile will be lower.
