Love & Stories: Melanie and Spencer

They found love on the dance floor...well, kind of. The next couple to spotlight here on our blog series is Melanie Sadur & Spencer Hockeborn. From meeting on a cruise ship to a double proposal, this couple sure does have a unique love story. Let’s hear what our featured February couple had to say!

How did you guys meet each other?

On a cruise - the Carnival Destiny! We met each other on the dance floor.

Was it "love at first sight"?

More like love at first "goofy dance move."

How would you describe each other in 3 words?

How/when did you know that you were "the one" for each other?

We've been together about 8 years, including 2 years of long-distance. We've gone through good and bad times (as all couples do), and have shown each other how supportive and loving we are as partners and best friends.

How did the proposal happen?

Melanie: We wanted to propose to each other and both wear rings during our engagement (#feminism). Spencer proposed on the mountaintop of our favorite hiking spot in Boone, North Carolina, surrounded by friends. I didn't have Spencer's ring yet, so I proposed back with a twig wrapped into a ring. I proposed back with the real ring a couple weeks later on the 606 in Chicago.

What are you looking forward to the most about your wedding day or marriage in general?

We've been partners for a long time, and we are excited to make it more official.

What ring(s) did you get from us?

Melanie got the ocean blue teal sapphire Juniper ring and Spencer got the Travis band.

What about the ring caught your eye? Is there any significance behind why you picked the ring that you did?

We loved Rosados Box because the rings are all ethically engineered and we wanted to buy our rings from a business owned by a woman of color.

Do you have any advice for couples in regards to marriage, love, or relationships?

Lots of communication, honesty, laughter and silliness!
