November Birthstone Guide: Citrine

How crazy is it that we’re already near the end of the year Rosettes?! This month’s citrine birthstone blog is dedicated to our November born gems. The citrine stone is filled with magical mystery, from meaning to metaphysical properties. Let’s dive straight into what this gemstone is all about!

Meaning

When it comes to the meaning of the word citrine, it derives from the French word “citrin” which means “lemon”. Just one peek at the stone and you’ll see why, given its' citrusy coloring. The gem ranges in golden shades from pale yellow to deep brownish orange. How did the citrine get its' color, you may ask? Citrine is a variety of quartz. The yellow hues that you see on the stone are caused by traces of iron and quartz crystals.

Origin

The origin of the citrine has a rich history and dates all the way back to ancient times. During the Hellenistic Age, the Greeks used the stone as a decorative gem. The Romans, on the other hand, utilized the citrine for jewelry and intaglio work. 17th-century Scottish men used the gem on the handles of swords and daggers. That’s a pretty neat fact huh?!
As we are all familiar with the present celebrities who wear iconic and bold jewelry designs, this was no different back in the 19th century. Pieces of this period were known to be grand and extravagant! The gem was utilized in a lot of major art deco jewelry for movie stars such as Joan Crawford and Greta Garbo. We wouldn’t have expected anything less from Hollywood royalty!

Healing

There’s no shortage of healing properties for citrine. One of them is that it’s a powerful healer and regenerator. What does that mean exactly? The gem carries the virtues of self-healing, inspiration, and self-improvement. If you have been feeling like you’re in a rut, the stone will allow you to grow in these areas. And you will be able to reach your full potential. Not only that, your creativity is going to spark. It will energize you to accomplish your goals and take on new experiences.
Another interesting healing element about the citrine is that it carries the power of the sun. This special attribute of the gem is said to help you overcome your depression, phobias, and fears. Along with that, the stone will ward off any negative attention from the body and bring you peace. Gloom and negativity do not exist around the stone so there’s no need to worry. Nothing but good with the citrine gemstone!

Metaphysical Properties

A whole lotta good can come your way when you have an open mind and a positive outlook on life! Sometimes you have negative and destructive tendencies. But with the help of citrine, this behavior will disappear. The citrine allows your radiance to show while guiding you to an optimistic future.
