What Is An Opal?
Before we hop into all things astrology and opals, let’s share some info about the gemstone for those that may not be familiar with it. An opal is a beautiful stone that shows off iridescent colors in all types of light!
There are not one, but TWO, types of opals out there: common and precious. The unique thing about precious opals is that they have a unique attribute called play-of-color. What’s that you may ask? When light hits the stone, the opal's sub-microscopic spheres put on a light show and emit rainbow flashes for all to see! How cool is that?!
This birthstone ranks anywhere from a 5 to a 6.5 on Mohs scale, so it is a bit on the more delicate side. With mindful wear, your precious opal piece will be able to last for years to come!
