How Did You Meet Each Other?
We had met through friends of friends almost a decade ago in college at a local pizza shop. In March of 2018, we met again! After many years of not seeing each other, Bri and I reconnected while he was on a wine tour. I work at 21 Brix Winery, and happened to be working up front in the tasting room. I don't typically work up front, but covered a shift for someone that day. He came in with his group (many friends who will be celebrating with us at our wedding!), did a wine tasting and we got to chatting. Nick, Brian's brother-in-law said "hey, you should get her number" to which Brian said "actually, I think I already have her number!" Later that night, Brian texted me to go out with them in Ellicottville. When I didn't respond with my plans, Brian double texted me (usually a fatal flaw of a first text sesh). I got back to him the next day, and a month-long text stream began. After a few weeks, I had a rare 3-day weekend and put out an Instagram poll of where to go. Bri texted me and said "Wilmington, NC?" I sent back the ? emoji, and even though I hadn’t spent more than ten minutes with him ever, I picked him up and we drove 11 hours each way for our very first road trip adventure together for a PACKED, fun-filled weekend.
Was It "Love At First Sight"?
Like all good things, it took time! Instant attraction and blush, for sure.

What Do You Admire About Each Other?
Chelsea: Brian is the human embodiment of a hug. He has the uncanny ability to bring light to even the darkest of days, for everyone, not just me. The way he values his friends and family is pure gold to witness and even more magical to be a part of.
Brian: Chelsea is incredibly smart and talented and always strives to be and do better for herself and everyone around her.
How/When Did You Know That You Were "The One" For Each Other?
Chelsea: Brian has been making scavenger hunts for me since my first birthday we spent together four years ago. He’d send me on quests with notes, all the time. For Christmas last year, he told me to bring all the notes I had collected over the years and lay them out—the first word of each numbered note corresponded with each of the words (in order) from one of the first songs we ever talked about together: Bohemian Rhapsody. Someone who spent three years on one project simply to make me smile is someone I want to spend my life with. There are a LOT of words in that song!!
Brian: I took Chelsea on a surprise trip to Savannah a few years back. I like to travel a lot and we travel so well together…I was about to leave on a five month trip and knew I wouldn’t see her at all. I realized that I wanted her to come with me and for us to be together for the long haul because there’s no better place to be than with each other.
How Did The Proposal Happen?
Bri sent me on another birthday scavenger hunt around Buffalo, NY this past summer. This time, he had all of my closest friends and family in on it: they each wrote a note/letter that sent me to one of my all-time favorite places/foods/or drinks. The last note led me down to the grove behind our home, where I had to dig in the ground where "x marks the spot"—there, he had buried a glass bottle with a letter inside exactly one year prior. The letter started with the sentence "Chelsea, If you’re reading this on August 21st, 2021, everything is going according to plan…" and continued on to say everything I needed to know and more. A weepy mess, I got up, we slow danced and he spun me and got down on one knee and asked me for forever.
