How Did You Meet Each Other?
Josh and I met in college. We had mutual friends and often went to the same parties, but we didn’t really get to know each other until our senior year when Josh asked me to be his date to a fraternity event (I almost didn’t go - we’d never hung out just the two of us, and we had probably 3 conversations with each other before then).
Was It "Love At First Sight"?
Julie: For me, it was definitely "crush at first sight." I had a HUGE crush on Josh, but although we had mutual friends, he and I never seemed to talk when we were all together, so we didn’t know much about each other until he asked me to his fraternity rechartering dinner during our senior year.
How Would You Describe Each Other In 3 Words?
Julie: I’d describe Josh as driven, funny, and sensible.
Josh: I’d describe Julie as loving, quirky, and funny.
What Do You Admire About Each Other?
Julie: I admire Josh’s ambition and drive. Once he decides to commit to something, nothing can stop him. He’s one of the most motivated and hard-working people I know.
Josh: I admire Julie’s ability to care for others. She has shown me how to be more caring, more understanding. She has also shown me how to be more empathetic, view situations from someone else’s shoes.
How/When Did You Know That You Were "The One" For Each Other?
Julie: I knew Josh was "the one" after we’d been dating for about a year. I got a job offer to teach in Charlotte, NC, and we’re both from Pennsylvania. I told Josh about the offer, and he didn’t even hesitate before he agreed to move almost 10 hours away from all of our friends and family. It made my decision to take the job so much easier knowing I’d have him there with me.
Josh: There was a point when we were living in Charlotte for about 5 months where I worked 3pm - midnight and Julie worked 6am - 3pm, we saw each other 2 days per week. I would go on to quit my job and decide to switch careers at 24, I was unemployed for 6 or so months, ran up ten thousand dollars in credit card debt to go to a tech school and by the time I landed my first job in software, I had 38 dollars in my bank account. Going through all that was tough on both of us, I was studying 12-14 hours per day and didn’t have time for much else, Julie wasn’t a fan of this, but she stuck with it the whole time, this was when I knew that I was going to marry this girl.
How Did The Proposal Happen?
Julie: We went out for dinner and drinks in Baltimore with one of my best friends from high school and her husband. We ate dinner at my favorite restaurant in Fells Point, and then walked across the street to the Sagamore Pendry for "drinks," and Josh proposed in front of a beautiful fireplace. Although I knew he had the ring, I wasn’t expecting it to happen that night; he did such a good job playing it cool! Josh made sure our friends took pictures of the proposal so we could remember it forever.
What Ring(s) Did You Get From Us?
My engagement ring is the Darcy ring, and for my wedding band I chose the Buddha Beads band. Josh got the Steve band in yellow gold!
What About The Ring(s) Caught Your Eye? Is There Any Significance Behind Why You Picked The Ring(s) That You Did?
I’ve had my eye on the Darcy/Buddha bead band combo for…years. I’ve known that it was the set I wanted since Josh and I first talked about getting married someday (back in like…2015). I searched for oval engagement rings on Pinterest and found it and fell absolutely in love. I love that the set is a great combination of simple, but also just a little bit different with the Buddha band. Josh was looking for a simple gold band, and decided to order from Rosados Box because his experience ordering my engagement band was so great.
What Did You Look Forward To The Most About Your Wedding Day Or Marriage In General?
Julie: I was most excited to celebrate our wedding day with all of our friends and family, and to hear Josh’s vows!
Josh: I looked forward to getting to spend time with everyone at the wedding.
